Birdnet Pi Info
Birdnet Pi is a neat way to monitor for bird activity near your home or in a remote location. This free application is installed on a Raspberry Pi computer board and visible over your home network. The above view is shared through an iframe embed code to this site.
The current setup involves the follow:
Raspberry Pi 4 Model (4GB)
Rasbian 64bit OS (required)
Sabrent USB soundcard
Homebrew electret microphone with 1/8" jack
The OS can be installed from this github page using git installation steps or by following the instructions listed in the middle of the page. You must use the 64bit version of Raspian for Birdnet Pi.
The Sabrent USB soundcard can be purchased on Amazon for less $10.
This projects main intension is to monitor and alert for screech owls in the area. This will help to identify when our nesting boxes are likely to house screech owls. The added benefit is discovering all of the species of birds in our area throughout the year!
